National Mountain rescue figures announced.
Mountain Rescue England and Wales, the national umbrella body for all mountain rescue teams, has recently announced the call-out figures for 2015 in a review of the year document.
The forty-eight voluntary rescue teams registered with M.R.E.W. received a total of 1,815 calls from 32 different statutory agencies which resulted in 1,642 deployments. 1,721 people were assisted consuming a total of 92,019 hours of volunteer’s time.
There were only 15 days during the whole of 2015 when a mountain rescue was not operationally active somewhere.
The figures show a 10% increase on 2014 and bring to an end a five year decreasing trend.
None of these calls could have been answered without the generous support of the public providing the funding.
