Join Buxton Mountain Rescue Base Team!

We are recruiting for new members to serve in Base Team roles

If you’ve ever thought about playing a part in Mountain Rescue but don’t have the availability to be on-call, nor quite the skills or fitness for active hill service, then Base Team Membership may be for you.

A lot goes on behind the scenes to keep the Rescue Team fully operational on the hill: Base Team Members can participate in Team activities such as training, fund raising and publicity. They play a vital role in ensuring the operational members are well organised, well equipped and well supported whenever they are called into action. Base Team Members may contribute specialist or technical skills in an area of expertise, such as: Web/IT, First Aid, fund raising, publicity, or maintenance of team equipment, vehicles and premises. You may also get to participate in Mountain Rescue training and exercises by acting as casualties for Search & Rescue Dog training, or assisting with Team administration. Although Mountain Rescue is a serious business there is also a social side, which is fun and builds a great team spirit.

Further details are here. Alternatively, come and talk to us at our base in Dove Holes on any of these 2014 Open Days:

  • Tuesday June 17th 7pm – 9pm
  • Wednesday July 23rd 7pm – 9pm
  • Saturday August 23rd 2pm – 4.30pm

Look round our Base, check out our vehicles and watch some demonstrations of what we do on the hill. Team members will be on hand to answer questions and reveal what it’s really like to be part of the Team.
