Chapel Parish Community Award

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team member, Peter Farrer, was the recipient of a special award presented on Thursday evening by Councillor John Brook, Chairman of Chapel-en-le-Frith Parish Council.

Each year the Parish Council makes a Community Award to someone the council considers has made a special contribution to the local area.  When the council heard that Peter’s 42 year commitment to mountain rescue had been recognised in the New Year’s Honours list with an M.B.E., they wished to add to their own congratulations with the 2016 Community Award.

Emergency Services Day Success

Despite the weather taking a turn for the worse the Emergency Services Day held in Pavilion Gardens, Buxton on Sunday was a real success.

Owing to the temporary marquee on the promenade the show wasn’t a big as usual but it still attracted hundreds of people even on an overcast and sometimes damp day.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service was there in force with some very expensive looking vehicles and Derbyshire Cave Rescue Organisation provided an instant pot-hole for young people to try out their skills.

Peter has always been one of those who beavers away in the background and without who’s dedication mountain rescue couldn’t operate.  He served on the management committee of Buxton …
