Buxton Mountain Rescue Team this week unveiled the latest addition to its response vehicle fleet with delivery of a new Toyota Hilux 4 wheel drive.
The Hilux will become the team’s primary response vehicle and will attend nearly every call-out received. It will replace the team’s current primary response Land Rover, which is now over ten years old, and will enable continued access to casualties via tracks and unmade roads as well as providing an all year, all weather capability on the roads.

Good news at last for the team when members Tom Bradshaw and Charlie Arnold married on Saturday in the Pavilion Gardens, Buxton. It was a beautiful spring day for the service which took place under the band-stand in the gardens. Team member Josh Hall was Best Man so it was truly a team event.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team is deeply saddened to announce the death of its Honorary President, Ian Hurst M.B.E. on Wednesday 22nd March.
Ian was a member of Buxton Mountain Rescue Team for twenty-six years but his involvement with mountain rescue in the Peak District goes back to the very beginning of the regional organisation in 1964. In fact Ian, as a then voluntary warden with the Peak District National Park Authority, was already regularly dealing with mountain accidents when the 1964 Four Inns tragedy gave rise to the formation of the Peak …
On Boxing Day 2016 Buxton Mountain Rescue Team Search Dog, Megan, reached the age of 12. Megan’s handler and owner, Dave, decided that at this age it was time for Megan to put her paws up from operational duties and retire.
Megan was born in Buxworth in December 2004. At the age of 14 weeks she went to live with Dave who started the process of training her as an air scenting search dog. Megan successfully passed her first assessments in June 2007 and started work immediately.

Trainee Search Dog Isla, with her handler Mark Williams, made a significant step forward last week in their ambition to pass out as a fully accredited Mountain Rescue Search Dog unit. Isla passed her stage One Indication Test which is a key accomplishment.

When a new gents hairdressers came to town the owner, Chris Abbott, looked for two charities to help with the opening day promotion.
