On Sunday Buxton Mountain Rescue Team welcomed members of both Staffordshire and Cheshire Lowland Rescue Teams for a training session which was primarily aimed at developing leadership skills but it also provided a great opportunity to share ideas.

On Thursday 12th October Buxton Mountain Rescue Teams was proud to welcome Mike France, Chairman of Mountain Rescue England & Wales, and David Coleman, President of The Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation, to the team’s base at Dove Holes to present Long Service Certificates to five team members.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team welcomed Hassan Pillai from Macclesfield to its Dove Holes base on Thursday evening to say thank you for raising over £3,000 for team funds.
Team Chairman, Richard Doran, presented Hassan with a framed Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of his hard work and determination in completing a 650 mile cycle ride from Mizen Head, the tip of Southern Ireland, to Malin Head at the top of Northern Ireland. The weekend is Buxton Mountain Rescue Team’s best fund raising event of the year and we’d love you to come and join us at Chatsworth Park. So far the weather has been kind and the crowds are packing in to see the hundreds of displays and sales tents.

Hassan Pillai is attempting to raise £2,500 for the rescue team with a sponsored cycle ride of the 600 mile, full length of Ireland. (see news item 31/07.)

A one day Street Collection in Macclesfield netted the team a magnificent £400.
Last Saturday (5th Aug) was a rare bright summer’s day and members of Buxton Mountain Rescue Team took advantage of the weather on the shopping streets of Macclesfield. A pre-planned and licenced street collection was held which raised a really amazing sum of just a few pence over £400.
