Reports of two walkers unsure of their location on the Kinder plateau in failing light. The Peak District Mountain Rescue “Kinder Plan” was initiated, with Buxton, Kinder, Edale and Glossop Mountain Rescue Teams all mobilised to search pre-allocated sections of Kinder.
The pair were located after a good old fashioned search by team members, torches and three trained search dogs. The walkers were well and ready to be escorted off the hill and back to Edale.
The team was called as part of our joint operations arrangement to assist Edale Mountain Rescue Team in the Burbage area. A young lady walker had taken a tumble sustaining a knee injury.
Once assessed the casualty was splinted and placed on the mountain rescue stretcher for a short carry up to the road, and the waiting ambulance for the onward journey to hospital.
A large group of walkers were heading over towards Kinder Gates via Crowden Head when a female member suffered a suspected fractured ankle.
Kinder Mountain Rescue Team received the initial call and due to the weather conditions on the plateau requested the assistance from Buxton Mountain Rescue Team. A helicopter from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency was also called.
A passing male who had started the Pennine Way provided assistance until team members arrived, placing the casualty into a tent to protect from the increasing wind and rain.

A geology student from Keele University was in the area on a field trip. The field study group had intended to visit the Blue John Cavern. During the descent, the lady slipped at the bottom of the cavern and resulting in a suspected fractured ankle.

A participant on an outdoor recreational course, become stuck in between some rocks. The team responded as part of the mid-week snatch cover with Edale Mountain Rescue Team. Due to the position of the casualty, it was obvious that more specialised equipment would be required and assistance from Derbyshire Cave Rescue Organisation was requested.
Mountain rescue team members were able to remove soil from around the casualty’s leg, this then helped free the casualty. After an assessment by team medics the casualty was able to walk to awaiting vehicles.
A very autumnal call for us on this morning to assist Edale Mountain Rescue Team in the woods near Froggatt village. Nine members of Buxton Mountain Rescue Team quickly responded and headed to the location. A member of a school group had an allergic reaction to something they had eaten. They were put into one of the Edale team vehicles and driven a short distance to an awaiting ambulance. We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.
The team were driving back from call out 86 and as we headed to Upper Booth Farm the radio started to chatter with news of another incident. Team Leader Neil had been driving up towards the campsite to pick up team members who were coming off the hill. He came across a group on the road and one of the party with a medical history had collapsed. We quickly responded with all kit and personnel available. Half way through our first ever fundraising race Fell ‘n’ Back our deputy team leader got a call that we were needed up on top of Kinder Scout. As nearly all our resources were tied up in the logistics of the race, he had to think about who and what to send. A retired couple holidaying from Stafford, we’re enjoying the sunshine and the countryside of Monsal Dale. They climbed over a walled style accessing the Monsall Trail, but unfortunately the lady lost her footing and landed awkwardly causing injuries to the face and left shoulder.
As part of the midweek joint snatch, members Edale Mountain Rescue Team attended, along with an East Midlands Ambulance Service crew.
The lady was administered pain relief before being taken to hospital.
The team despatched mobiles 1 and 2 to assist Edale Mountain Rescue Team with a downed paraglider. The casualty was located by a local Edale team member and the East Midlands Ambulance Service was called to transfer to hospital. Both Buxton vehicles were stood down en route and returned to base.
