Whilst returning from the previous call out at Taxal, the mountain rescue team was requested to attend a joint callout with colleagues from Edale Mountain Rescue Team. The teams were called to attend a 30 year old male who had slipped on the footpath near the summit of Mam Tor, sustaining a lower leg injury.

The casualty was initially treated by mountain rescue team members, which included splinting the injury, before being placed in a casualty bag, vacuum mattress and being placed on a mountain rescue stretcher and sledged down to the road at Mam Nick. The casualty was then transferred …

The mountain rescue team was called to assist colleagues from North West  Ambulance Service at Taxal near Whaley Bridge. NWAS were attending to a male casualty who was in a remote building which could only be accessed via a rough track. Due to the amount of snow and ice on the track the ambulance was unable to drive to the casualty. Buxton Mountain Rescue Team members transported the casualty along the track in one of the teams 4×4 vehicles to a waiting ambulance, from where the paramedics were able to continue their treatment.

The team was called out to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service with the evacuation of a 78 year old female who had been walking in the Chee Dale area, a few miles east of Buxton.

This is a beautiful spot for a walk at any time of the year, but especially when covered in the first snows of the year.

The lady slipped whilst walking along the riverside path, resulting in a lower leg injury. She was initially treated by a Tideswell Community First Responder who was sent to assess the situation. Thanks for your rapid response.

The team was called out to a 62 year old female who was out walking with friends in Macclesfield Forest when she slipped whilst descending a path, sustaining an ankle injury.

The team was assisted by members of the NWAS HART team, who helped carry the casualty on a mountain rescue stretcher, for a short distance up the track to a waiting NWAS ambulance at the roadside.

The NWAS HART team (Hazardous Area Response Team) are specially trained and equipped personnel tasked to take on work in tougher than normal situations.

The team was called along with Edale Team to help a walker who had suffered an injured leg whilst walking along the ever popular, Great Ridge above Castleton / Edale.

The teams administered first aid before the casualty was placed onto a mountain rescue stretcher, carried down to the road side and transferred to an East Midlands Ambulance, which was waiting on the Edale side of Mam Nick.

An unfortunate end to the New Year walk.

The team was called out by a family group who were enjoying a walk around Macclesfield Forest. A young person in the group tripped and fell, and unfortunately was knocked unconscious.

All vehicles were dispatched to Forest Chapel and team members first to arrive headed directly to the casualty site, which was 300 metres from Charity Lane.  At the same time, the North West Air Ambulance arrived on scene and Peak District National Park Volunteer Rangers also arrived on foot.

The casualty had now regained consciousness and was assessed by an air ambulance paramedic, before being placed on a stretcher and evacuated to the helicopter….

A couple were out walking this afternoon, near to Back Tor on the Great Ridge when the male slipped and sustained a upper leg injury.

Edale Mountain Rescue Team and Buxton Mountain Rescue Team were called as part of the midweek Joint Snatch arrangements. Members from both teams quickly responded making their way to the Hollowford Centre, and were then transferred by mountain rescue vehicles before a quick walk up to the casualty site.

The casualty was assessed by team medics and provided with pain relief and splinted before being transferred on mountain rescue stretcher to the waiting East Midlands Ambulance …

Christmas morning was interrupted for both Edale Mountain Rescue and Buxton teams when a call for help was received.

A lady from Warrington was enjoying a Christmas morning walk when she slipped and sustained a lower leg injury. After initial treatment, the lady was carried on a team stretcher to an awaiting East Midlands Ambulance Service and onward to hospital.

Team members headed home just in time for their Christmas lunch.  Fortunately for the team members, they were not called out again on the 25th.

The unfortunate lady had suffered a suspected fractured ankle and after an initial assessment from ambulance personnel, she was carried to the ambulance and then transferred to hospital.

Early on Sunday morning, we were called into action as part of the Kinder Search Plan, a collaborative operation featuring Mountain Rescue Teams from Glossop, Edale, Kinder and of course Buxton.  Four search dogs and handlers were also called out.

Two walkers had been expected back from a walk along the Southern Edges before dark but at 01:30 they were reported missing.  The weather had been atrocious during the day with the clear skies overnight leading to freezing temperatures so there were concerns for their welfare.

A Police National Police Air Service helicopter was called to join the search, but conditions prevented a prolonged …
