Rainow 

Tasked by Derbyshire Police to locate a farmer who had gone out on their tractor but had not been contactable for some time. Macclesfield based team members Rendezvous’ed at Gin Clough Farm. The roads were blocked by deep snow from the Farm upwards so the section of six members walked to the grid reference given by the Farmer approximately 4km away. The Farmer was located in his tractor, cold and tired by otherwise safe and well. The lane the tractor was in had been blocked by an abandoned Landrover and deep drifts of snow. …

Hanging Gate Pub

While team members were driving from incident 018 to 021 they came across a young adult who had been driving past the Hanging Gate Pub, and his vehicle had left the road and knocked over a lamp post.

The gentleman was unhurt but very shaken.  He was taken back to Dove Base in a team member’s 4×4 to await the arrival of his parents to take him home.

Goyt Valley Old Road

Whilst incident 018 was underway, the team received reports for a request to rescue four adults who were green-laning in the Goyt area in two vehicles and became a bit stuck.  They were uninjured, just a bit cold.

Three team members were deployed in Mobile 4.  Two team members soon found the group stuck, and walked them down to the road.  They were moved to Buxton Train Station.

This group of team members were then deployed to call out 020 immediately!

Batham Gate

Called out by Derbyshire County Council.  Peak 4×4 had tried to reach two adults and a a child who had been out in the snow but their vehicle got stuck in dangerous blizzard conditions.

Team members were called to attend and support where they were needed. They escorted the stranded car occupants to safety and treated a pre existing medical condition for one of the adult in the car, which had worsened due to the exertion of battling through 3 ft high snow drifts!

Wildboarclough 

Tasked by North West Ambulance Service to assist with an incident in Wildbourclough.  An ambulance had tried to attend, but got stuck in a snow drift.  As team members walked in from the Rose and Crown, farmers started to move the snow drifts from both ends.

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service also attended.

HART attended with their ‘Polaris’ all terrain vehicle.

Team members escorted two paramedics to the house where a farmers wife was lying with an ankle injury, and reported vascular compromise.  She had fallen in the fields, …

Youlgreave 

While team members were waiting for the arrival of the GP in incident 023 they were approached by a gentleman whose elderly wife had fallen out of bed in the early hours of the morning.  She was lying on the floor and in pain, and was unable to move.  He had rung 111 and their GP practice and was still waiting for a call back.  He asked if we could do anything for her.

A team member entered the property and found the 92 year old lady in a significant amount of pain.  The GP …

The team received an urgent call to help a GP get to work. They were snowed in in their remote property and needed to get to Stewart Medical Practice in Buxton.

This was the last incident to round off the 10th of March 2023. Our first call out was 01:30 this morning, and we were stood down at 17:30.

We have been working with multiple services to get everyone where they needed to be or back from where they have been safely.

The Winking Man

Called out by Staffordshire Police, to a motorist who was stranded in his vehicle on the A53, his heater had stopped working and he was is 4-5 ft snow drifts and unable to walk anywhere.

Joint response originally Buxton Mountain Rescue Team, who struggled with access issues with the deep snow, Peak 4X4 were also unable to attend.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue offered to use their Unimog (There is a photo if you dont know what a unimog is… I didn’t either!) all terrain vehicle from Leek, and set off at 07:38, …

Parsley Hey

Straight from call out 019, tasked by Derbyshire Police to three individuals stuck in snow drifts in a vehicle near Parsley Hey. It was believed they were Italian.

Team members joined up with a police officer in their own vehicle and made their way along the A515 – there were deep drifts of snow which they managed to get through but the road was found to be blocked by stranded vehicles just after Pomeroy.
