Another afternoon call out when team members were alerted to an incident at around the same time as they had been called out to help on the previous day.

The team was asked to attend an incident at Millers Dale, and members, having been alerted by the usual text messages, were soon on route to the RV point.

Before arriving at Millers Dale the team was informed that the incident had been resolved, and was consequently stood down, fairly quickly.

The team was called out late afternoon to an incident in Grin Low Woods, Buxton.

Thirteen team members responded to the callout and on arrival  they found a female casualty had reportedly been involved in an incident and had received a painful injury, to her hip/pelvic area. Following a medical assessment of the casualty,  she was  given entonox, before an East Midlands Ambulance Service paramedic arrived. The casualty was then reassessed, and given stronger pain relief before being placed in a casualty bag and vacuum mattress, and transported on a mountain rescue stretcher, to Poole’s Cavern Car Park, where she was …

As part of the Mountain Rescue and Police response to search for a missing person near Hartington, (see call out details of 28th April), search dog Griff and handler Dave were also called into help. Griff is a fully graded search dog, one of just a few in the Peak District. We also think he’s very photogenic, so here’s a couple of photographs for you.

At about 7.45pm, this evening, the team was asked to assist Derby Mountain Rescue Team, Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England and the Police on a joint search. The request was to search for a vulnerable missing person in the Hartington area.

As team members were arriving at the RV for a briefing, the missing person was thankfully found, allowing team members to return home, for a quiet Sunday evening.

A mid afternoon joint snatch call out for call out for both Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Teams to the Grindsbrook footpath, just outside of Edale.

A female casualty was quickly located. She had been walking with her family, tripped and dislocated her knee. The teams assessed the casualty, gave pain relief, and the dislocation was reduced, and her leg splinted and immobilised. She was then placed in a vacuum mat, in a casualty bag and placed on the stretcher for a carry down back to Edale.

She was taken to hospital by grateful family members for further assessment.

The team’s assistance was requested again by Derbyshire Constabulary to assist with an incident at Ringing Roger, early afternoon on Sunday 21st April.

The team attended along with Edale Mountain Rescue Team and quickly deployed up to the casualty’s location. The casualty was a female on a Duke of Edinburgh  walk who had injured her ankle. The injury was assessed, and pain relief given, before the ankle was splinted and the casualty placed in a vacuum mattress and put onto a mountain rescue stretcher. The casualty was then carried down to Edale where she was handed over to the DoE leaders …

On what was turning out to be the hottest day of the year so far, Buxton Mountain Rescue Team, and Edale Mountain Rescue Team, were requested by Derbyshire Constabulary to assist a female walker who had injured her leg on the edge path above Grindsbrook.

Both teams deployed up the hill to the casualty’s location. On reaching the casualty, team members assessed and stabilised the injury, and made arrangements for the evacuation via stretcher back over Grindslow Knoll and down to Edale.

As team members were arriving at the RV for the Grindsbrook incident, a request was received from East Midlands Ambulance Service to assist them with an incident on Mam Tor involving a paraglider and a member of the public who was close by.

Members of Edale and Buxton Mountain Rescue Team members were diverted from the Grindsbrook incident to this one. On arrival, paramedics from the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance were attending to the casualty. Following assessment, the casualty was placed on a stretcher for a carry-off down to the road where a land ambulance transferred them to hospital….

Two team members, who were fundraising for the Team in the centre of Castleton, were asked to attend a call-out along with Edale Mountain Rescue Team, at the request of East Midlands Ambulance Service.

A climber, who had been climbing in the Broken Buttress area of Stanage had fallen and subsequently been hit by a falling rock. As a result of this, he had sustained a leg injury.

The casualty was made safe as he was in a precarious position on the crag, and then lowered down and carried to the roadside on a mountain rescue stretcher to the waiting ambulance.

The team was called, along with with Edale Mountain Rescue Team, as part of the mid week “snatch” call out to Bamford Edge to assist a fallen climber. The climber, who was free climbing (no rope, no climbing aids) at the time, and fell about 8 metres. Team members assisted paramedics from the  East Midlands Ambulance Service to carefully place the male casualty onto a stretcher for a short carry to the waiting Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance. The casualty was then flown to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield for further treatment.
