Windgather Rocks, Goyt Valley

The team was requested by North West Ambulance Service to assist with the rescue of a fallen climber at Windgather Rocks.

On arrival at the rendezvous point, North West Air AmbulanceCheshire Fire and Rescue Service and Cheshire Police were also in attendance.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team were called to assist Derbyshire Police with the recovery of a deceased person, close to the Monsal Trail, Cressbrook.

Harden Clough, Edale

The team, along with Edale Mountain Rescue Team, was requested by East Midlands Ambulance Service to attend an incident at Harden Clough, Edale.

The casualty had fallen and cut their head whilst out walking. Buxton team members (who were fundraising in Castleton) and an Edale team member (who was in Edale) immediately attended and were able to reach the casualty quickly.

The casualty was transported by Land Rover to Edale Station to be assessed and treated. They were then taken by their family to hospital.

Kinder Scout

The second call out of the day for the team came early evening in a search for an overdue group of Duke of Edinburgh participants.

As their exact location was unknown the Kinder Search Plan was initiated. In addition to not knowing where the group were, we had received information that one of the group members may have sustained a lower leg injury.

While team members were traveling to the rendezvous point, the party was located elsewhere, and the team stood down….

Parkin Clough, Win Hill

Edale Mountain Rescue Team was requested by Derbyshire Constabulary to attend an incident at Parkin Clough. As is standard practice with mid-week callouts, Buxton Mountain Rescue Team were also asked to attend.

The casualty was a member of a Duke of Edinburgh group who had sustained a head and ankle injury in a fall whilst walking towards the top of Parkin Clough . Wye Dale, east of Buxton

The team was requested to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service with a lady who had fallen off a climb.

The casualty was assessed by paramedics, and provided with pain relief, before being transferred to a vacuum mattress to immobilise her and placed on a mountain rescue stretcher for a carry off to the waiting ambulance .

The team had to ensure the safety of the casualty and used a rope system to assist with safe extraction over a steep section of rock, before carrying her to the waiting ambulance….

Rowsley, Nr Bakewell

The team was requested to assist Derbyshire Constabulary, and our colleagues at Derby Mountain Rescue Team with an ongoing search for a missing person.

Members of the Drone Team, along with Edale Mountain Rescue Team, were deployed to search specific areas. Sadly the body of a male matching the description of the missing person was found by a search dog and handler team during the search.

Our thoughts are with the gentleman’s family at this difficult time…

Deep Dale, White Lodge, off the A6 Bakewell to Buxton

The team was requested to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service with the extraction of a fallen mountain biker who had been cycling in Deep Dale. The mountain biker had fallen off his bike and landed heavily on the rocky ground injuring his shoulder.

The team quickly arrived at the rendezvous point and started to carry their equipment up to the ambulance crew and casualty. The casualty was placed on a mountain rescue stretcher for a carry down to the roadside, and waiting ambulance….

BMRT Search Dog call Griff and handler Dave were called just before midnight to assist Derby Mountain Rescue Team with a missing person search in the Rowsley area. Search dog Griff searched numerous areas with no find made. Search stood down at 0600 whilst further information is gathered

Odin Mine, Castleton

The team attended a joint snatch rescue, with Edale Mountain Rescue Team, to assist an injured walker on a footpath near to Odin Mine, Castleton.

As team members were arriving it became clear the casualty was not too far off the road and the walker was assisted to an ambulance by those present for onward transport to hospital.

Team members were quickly stood down.
