Millers Dale, east of Buxton

The team was called out today to assist a fallen climber in Chee Dale. Helped by good location details given in the initial call, and confirmed by other trail users, the team was able to quickly find the climber. Following what are now well-rehearsed Covid-19 protocols, team members provided initial treatment before the casualty was loaded onto a mountain rescue stretcher for evacuation back to the Monsal Trail. Buxton Quarry, Waterswallows Road, Buxton

The team was requested by Derbyshire Constabulary, to attend an incident near Waterswallows road. A female had slipped while walking down a steep grassy slope and injured her knee.

The casualty was assessed by team members before being placed on a mountain rescue stretcher for a short carry to a waiting East Midlands Ambulance Service, ambulance.

This was a very difficult job for the team in the current hot weather. Team members were in covid-19 personal protective equipment, and observed social distancing where possible….

Jacobs Ladder, Edale

A sense of déjà vu today as a callout came for another incident with an RV at Tipps Car Park. It had been less than 24 hours since the team had last been here for callout 23.

The request came from East Midlands Ambulance Service, to assist with the evacuation of a casualty in the Jacob’s Ladder area, although there was some doubt as to the exact location. The team was called out to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service with a casualty initially reported to be around the Jacob’s Ladder area of the upper Edale Valley. As team members began to arrive on scene, a team vehicle drove up to the head of the road to assess the incident. Fortuitously the casualty was soon found near Upper Booth where an initial assessment was made as to the extent of the injuries and treatment given. The team was called out to an incident near Errwood Hall, to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service with recovery an injured person.The casualty had been enjoying a late afternoon walk with their family when they slipped awkwardly whilst descending a path, fell and injured their ankle. After being given pain relief, and treatment by EMAS paramedics, the casualty was placed on a mountain rescue stretcher and carried to a waiting ambulance in the car park, before being transferred to hospital.

The team was called to an incident at Hen Cloud, to assist Officialwmas, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity and Staffordshire Police with an injured person.

After treatment by Midlands and Air Ambulance paramedics, the casualty was placed on a mountain rescue stretcher and carried to a waiting ambulance before being transferred to hospital via the air ambulance

The team was called to assist a paraglider, who had taken a heavy landing close to Treak Cliff Cavern. Sixteen Team members responded within a few minutes and were en-route when the call out was stood down.

It appears that people were able to assist and comfort the injured person until an ambulance arrived.

While most people were enjoying the sunny weather on Bank holiday Monday, the team was called out to the area of Jacobs Ladder in the Edale valley. We were requested to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service with the evacuation of an injured mountain biker.

Like all other locals, members of Buxton MRT has been living in lockdown with strict social distancing since late March. Under normal circumstances, we spend a lot of time in each other’s company fund-raising, training or answering callouts. Mam Tor Old Road, north west of Castleton

The team received an early Monday afternoon callout to assist Edale Mountain Rescue Team with a ‘joint snatch’ incident near Mam Tor.

The casualty was on holiday, and had been enjoying a walk in the sunshine on the Great Ridge. Unfortunately they slipped on the muddy ground and suffered an ankle injury.
