The Monsal Trail is one of the most popular parts of the White Peak for outdoor activities, attracting a large number of people, and the team responds to many callouts each year on and around the trail.

A walker out to enjoy a day’s photography, took a tumble on a set of steps below one of the glorious viaducts, sustaining a painful lower leg injury. Sheldon, between Buxton and Bakewell

Whilst climbing over a stone stile in the White Peak, a walker took a tumble and landed badly on the ground, sustaining some painful injuries to the upper body.

A 999 call was made to Derbyshire Constabulary and Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called to give initial medical care and evacuate the casualty. Stanage Edge

It was with a sense of deja vu that the team was called out to Stanage Edge for the second time in two days. Two friends were enjoying a walk and exploring the Stanage area. The day time temperature was very hot, and there is little shade on the moorland.

Hooks Carr, Stanage Edge

Whilst out enjoying a day on the millstone grit of Stanage Edge, a climber took a fall, landing hard on the ground. Derbyshire Constabulary received the 999 call and deployed Edale Mountain Rescue Team to the scene. In line with many other mid-week callouts, EMRT contacted Buxton Mountain Rescue Team to give a larger number of team members to evacuate the climber and 4 BMRT team members were quickly able to respond.

Monsal Head, Little Longstone

Two walkers out for the day along the Monsal Trail were rescued by the team from steep ground to the side of the path leading from the viaduct to Monsal Head.

Derbyshire Constabulary responded to a 999 call which gave details of where the casualties had slipped and tumbled from the path in the vicinity of the Monsal Trail viaduct.

Treak Cliff Cavern, Castleton

As team members were on their way up the hillside for incident 51, they were alerted by a member of the public who had seen 2 para gliders crash together on the other side of the hill. A vehicle was immediately tasked around to Treak Cliff Cavern area to check if our assistance was required.

On arrival both pilots had landed on the ground. One pilot was more seriously hurt, and was complaining of back pain and required assistance. Team members arriving from incident 52 were directed to our location. …

Combs, north west of Buxton

 As team members were mobilising to incident 51 near Castleton, details of another incident at Combs came in via East Midlands Ambulance Service.

Team members were split into two groups to try and ensure enough people arrived at each job.

We were then quickly informed that the incident at Combs had been resolved and team members were redirected to incident 51, and a further incident, number 53.

Speedwell Cavern area, Castleton.

The busy time continued for Buxton Mountain Rescue team on Saturday 8th August with the first of three call outs coming in just after midday.

Just as team members were enjoying some lunch, they were tasked by Derbyshire Constabulary, to assist an injured person on the side of Winnats Pass. The walker had been descending the grassy path at the side of Winnats Pass when they fell and injured their lower leg.

Topley Pike, east of Buxton.

The team was called out just before midnight on the 6th August by Derbyshire Constabulary to assist with the search for a vulnerable missing person in the area to the east of Buxton.

A number of sections of team members were deployed to search areas along the Monsal Trail and adjacent locations, with the search going on through the night until 0530hrs. the following morning. This allowed team members to return home for a couple of hours sleep before the search was resumed on Friday morning along with our colleagues from Derby
