A group of friends were enjoying a Friday afternoon walk around Rainow, while dodging the showers. Unfortunately, one of them slipped on the rocky, muddy and uneven ground and injured her lower leg. There was a call late Saturday evening for the mountain rescue teams to search for a missing walker on Kinder Scout. The “Kinder Plan” was initiated in an effort to get as many mountain rescue volunteers from various teams onto Kinder Scout as quickly as possible, due to the inclement weather conditions on the plateau.

A small section of three was initially dispatched from Edale village and made their way to the casualty, who was situated at halfway rocks. A walker had taken a fall and had injured their right ankle. The first Casualty Carer on scene assessed the ankle and administered strong pain relief. A climber had fallen off a route at Curbar Edge which resulted Edale Mountain Rescue Team being called to assist EMAS with the extraction of the casualty. As the situation was not clear at the time, Buxton Mountain Rescue Team were requested to assist.
