Incident report
One of our regular Thursday evening training sessions at Tegg’s Nose Country Park became a live callout for the team members attending.
The drone team were taking part in their first night flight, to familiarise themselves with the airborne flood lights and thermal imaging capability of the equipment.
Meanwhile other team members were honing their personal skills with a night orienteering exercise around the park. While searching for control points around Teggsnose Reservoir a group of trainees found a vulnerable missing person in distress, having fallen and sustained leg injuries. As the casualty was being given initial medical treatment, other team members were called back to the control vehicle and deployed to the scene of the incident with additional equipment.
After an initial assessment the casualty was then placed on one of our mountain rescue stretchers and carried the short distance to the car park to wait for the onward journey to hospital.
Team members then cleaned the equipment used during the incident, before packing the vehicle and returning to base.
