Incident report
Half way through our first ever fundraising race Fell ‘n’ Back our deputy team leader got a call that we were needed up on top of Kinder Scout. As nearly all our resources were tied up in the logistics of the race, he had to think about who and what to send. Kinder Mountain Rescue Team were covering for us during the race but they needed our help. 11 team members and two of the team’s vehicles were dispatched to Edale. On arrival, in three groups we climbed up to Pym Chair and met with our friends from Kinder team. A 40-year-old female had fallen and fractured her ankle. She was on a walking holiday with friends when the accident occurred. Both teams stabilised the fracture with a splint and packaged her onto the stretcher. Unfortunately the EMAS air ambulance was not able to land near our location and picked up the doctor they had dropped off earlier. We carried the casualty to the top off Jacobs Ladder where one of Kinder’s trusty Land Rovers was waiting for expedient dispatch off the moors. The team then walked back down and packed the kit into the vehicles before heading towards base. However, we had another incident to contend with first.
