Incident report
Despite the recent stormy weather, half-term was always likely to bring a callout, and so it was early afternoon on Saturday 20th February.
The team was informed that a group walking in Monsal Dale had suffered a mishap, with one of the accompanying adults slipping in mud, sustaining an injury to the upper arm. Two response vehicles were quickly on scene, and team members made their way to the casualty site.
Pain relief was administered to the casualty to help with the lift onto the stretcher and the subsequent carry off to the road. Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis had played their part in saturating the ground which made it very easy to sledge the stretcher down the slope to more horizontal ground before the journey back to the vehicles.
Whilst this was happening the remainder of the party had been escorted back to a team vehicle and kept warm and in good spirits until they could be transported back as one group to Monsal Head for their return home.
We hope the casualty recovers quickly and comes back to finish the planned walk in one of the Peak District National Park most scenic areas.
