Incident report

A lovely run of good weather has seen people out and about in the Peak District National Park enjoying the spring sunshine.

The team was called out alongside Edale Mountain Rescue Team by Derbyshire Constabulary to a paraglider on Mam Tor that had landed heavily resulting in a serious ankle injury.

Paramedics from East Midlands Ambulance Service provided pain relief and treated the casualty alongside team members before a box splint was applied to stabilise and support the ankle.

The casualty was then packaged in a vacuum mattress on a mountain rescue stretcher and evacuated from the summit to the ambulance waiting at Mam Nick.

Just as the team was cleaning all equipment before departing, members became aware of a person feeling unwell on the Mam Tor path. Several team members walked back up the path to assist. The casualty was walked down to Mam Nick where they were checked over by the team paramedic.
