Incident report
The team was called out mid afternoon to help two people who had taken a tumble at Fernilee reservoir. They had walked around part of the reservoir when they stumbled making their way down a gravel path.
Both of them fell, and were unable to continue their walk. They called East Midlands Ambulance Service who were quickly on scene and, due to the location of the incident, asked the mountain rescue team to assist with the exctraction.
Team members quickly arrived at the rendezvous point and made their way down to the casualties and paramedics. It soon became clear that both casualties would require an individual stretcher carry -off.
Both casualties were placed on separate mountain rescue stretchers for the short, but hot, carry out to the road head and waiting ambulance.
The vehicles and equipment were cleaned, as per our covid-19 protocols, ready for the next callout.
The team wishes both of the casualties a speedy recovery, and hope they’ll both be enjoying the countryside again soon.
