Incident report
A walker had been enjoying a dog walk in Cressbrook Dale near Peter Stone when unfortunately they slipped on the very slippery muddy, limestone path, resulting in a right ankle injury. Being unable to place any weight on the ankle, the walker called 999 for ambulance assistance.
The local first responder was the first on scene, followed by a crew from East Midlands Ambulance Service. Due to the inaccessibility of the terrain assistance from Mountain Rescue was requested.
Team vehicles from both bases were despatched, along with team members who headed to the scene. Due to limited parking along the A613, team members parked their vehicles at the Yonderman Cafe.
Equipment was quickly despatched from Mobile 1 as team members made their way to the casualty site.
The casualty had received mild pain relief and the injured ankle was splinted by the ambulance crew and first responder. The casualty was then placed onto the team’s stretcher and carried to the awaiting ambulance for further assessment and onward travel to the hospital.
We’d like to extend our thanks to the kind walkers who offered sleeping bags and other items to keep the casualty warm.
We’d also like to thank The Yondermann Cafe, who kindly allowed the team to park their vehicles in their car park (the cakes did look good ).
