Incident report
During the week Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Teams often work together to ensure that we have sufficient operational members to respond to incidents in our respective areas.
After a walker took a tumble in Cave Dale, both teams responded to assist in case a stretcher evacuation was necessary. Members of Edale MRT were close by at their base and were soon on scene, and able to make an initial assessment of the casualty’s injuries and decided the patient could be walked down the path to the village with some assistance.
Our colleagues from East Midlands Ambulance Service were then able to take over and provide further medical care while both teams were stood down and vehicles returned to their respective bases.
Team members from Buxton MRT then returned to their Dove Holes base to carry out a regular crag kit check which involves opening all the relevant bags on the vehicles and examining each piece of equipment. As this equipment checking process was under way, the second callout of the day came through requiring all the bags to be speedily repacked and stowed back onto the vehicles.
