Incident report
As part of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation – PDMRO water response, Buxton MRT’s Swift Water Rescue section (SRT) members together with SRTs from Kinder Mountain Rescue Team and Derby Mountain Rescue Team are back home after an all-night deployment to Bakewell fire station on standby for flood rescue.
Fortunately, no evacuation of homes was necessary. The only incident was a car stuck in flood water with the driver sitting on the roof.
As a combined team of Mountain Rescue rescuers arrived at the scene, they found that the driver had self-rescued by wading through the water to safety.
At 0600hrs the teams handed over to SRTs from Edale Mountain Rescue Team and Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team to continue with the standby.
River levels are forecast to peak at lunchtime today. The team are now safely back at home for some well earned rest. We are always here to help our community.
