Incident report

Response vehicles and members diverted from the previous search to attend a 41 year old male from Sutton Coldfield who fell whilst soloing Thin Air (E5 6a). The casualty who had climbed approximately 2/3 of the route when he peeled off on the Crux move. Whilst the casualty had a spotter and a bouldering mat, which he managed to land on, his momentum and angle of impact resulted in a compound fracture of the right ankle. The casualty was given IV pain relief by the air ambulance doctor and evacuated by stretcher to the air ambulance for onward transport to North Staffs Infirmary.
