Incident report

A joint Buxton & Edale snatch squad call to Stanage on Monday afternoon. A paraglider pilot crashed whilst attempting to take off from Stanage Edge.

The man fell about 10 metres. He sustained injuries to his spine and pelvis together with a serious leg fracture. He was treated on site by the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance paramedics along with Edale Team paramedics.

He was then placed on a stretcher and carried by team personnel to the helicopter waiting by the roadside and flown to the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, for further treatment.
