Incident report
Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called to rendezvous in Macclesfield Forest following a report of a walking accident on the path leading to Shutlingsloe. It was a beautiful crisp winter’s day and overnight frost had left the paths covered in a film of ice.
A 53 year old lady walker slipped and sustained a suspected broken ankle. Just a few minutes after the accident a team member happened to be walking passed and was able to render immediate assistance. The call-out system was activated and the North West Ambulance Service requested.
Following treatment and the arrival of the other team members with the rescue equipment, a short stretcher carry ensued to the ambulance waiting at Standing Stones for transport of the lady to Macclesfield General Hospital.
