Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called by West Midlands Ambulance Service, nearly an hour after the event, to assist in the locating and recovery of a female walker who was thought to have sustained an ankle injury.  Only when the air-ambulance reported that it was unable to find a landing site were the team called to assist.

We were at the Roaches within 30 minutes by which time the aircraft had located the casualty and was about to depart.  The incident had been reported just after 2.00 pm and local Ambulance First Responders were also at the rendezvous point but had no information as to where the casualty was located.

The team stood down after confirmation that the casualty was on board the air-ambulance.
