Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team together with Glossop, Kinder and Edale MRTs called late on a Sunday night following the report of two overdue walkers on a moorland stretch of the Pennine Way.  Six search dogs, including Megan & Cap, were also called to look for the two 51 year old females walking the final leg of the Pennine Way between Crowden and Edale.

The weather during the day had not been kind with local heavy showers and strong winds across the moors. The weather mixed with tired sore feet delayed the couple who should have completed the day at 17.30 hours at the Nag’s Head in Edale village.

Mountain rescue was alerted by a family member who had waited over four hours but finally concluded the couple was in trouble.  However, as is often the case, the well equipped pair made their own way to Upper Booth just as a major search of the route was being planned.   Both were tired but safe and uninjured.   All teams were stood down at 22.30 hours.
