Incident report
The joint Buxton and Edale snatch squad was called to the Surprise View Car Park, near Hathersage, on Thursday afternoon to assist the ambulance service.
A 52 year old female from the Whitley Bay area, on holiday in the Peak District, was walking in the Over Owler Tor area when she tripped on the rocky path sustaining an injury to her right ankle immobilising her.
She was treated on site by team members, including pain relief and splinting, placed onto a mountain rescue stretcher and carried some 400 metres to the waiting land ambulance for onward transport to the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, for further treatment.
A team spokesman said “This is the third incident in the last three days requiring the Buxton and Edale Teams snatch squad to be called out, following calls to the Blue John Cavern, Castleton and the River Derwent, near Hathersage. It maintains our focus on the communities we serve”.
