Incident report

A lady, walking in Monsal Dale with her family, took a simple slip and sustained a suspected fracture of the right ankle.   When East Midlands Ambulance Service requested assistance fifteen Buxton Mountain Rescue Team members responded and assembled at Monsal Head.

The casualty was located near to the footbridge in Monsal Dale where team members started first aid treatment and were soon joined by EMAS paramedics.  The lady was placed on a rescue stretcher and carried for a kilometre along the river bank to the waiting ambulance.  It was during this stretcher evacuation that another incident was reported to the rescue control vehicle.  (see incident 20)
