Incident report
Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called at 6.00 pm on Friday 4th August following a report to East Midlands Ambulance Service of an accident on the south east ridge of Mam Tor, near to Blue John Mine.
A 37 year old lady from the Isle of Man, on holiday in the Peak District, had slipped whilst descending the popular route off the Mam Tor summit. The simple accident resulted in a probable fracture of the lower leg and so the aim of the first team members on site was to support the injury and offer pain relief. As more team members arrived the injured limb was splinted before the casualty was placed on a stretcher for the descent to the road.
At this point members of Edale Mountain Rescue Team arrived to help with the carry-off to where the East Midlands Ambulance was waiting near Blue John Mine. Following further examination by the ambulance crew the lady was taken to a Sheffield hospital for treatment.
