Incident report
A full team call-out for Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Teams following a report that six members of a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award group were overdue from a walk on the southern edges of Kinder. The group had left Edale with the intention of walking up Jacob’s Ladder and returning to Edale via the southern edge path and down Grindsbrook.
When the group failed to return by by early evening, the alarm was raised and a search of Kinder Scout was put into motion. Mobile phone contact with the group was established but they had little information about their location. However, only twenty minutes after the call-out was initiated the group leaders located their party in the higher reaches of Grindsbrook.
A few members of Edale MRT continued onto the moor to escort the group off but the remaining members of the two teams stood down and returned to base.
