Incident report

Kinder and Buxton Mountain Rescue Teams called out, together with Search & Rescue Dog Association handlers, when a party of school children was reported over due.

Seven pupils from a Manchester school were participating in training for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme Silver Award when they became disorientated on Kinder plateau.   The party had reported that they were in Crowden Brook but two hours after darkness they had still not appeared at their camp-site in Edale.

Kinder M.R T. was deployed to start from Hayfield for a search of the Western edges whilst Buxton would start from Upper Booth to cover the Southern Edge.  However, before either team got members too far up the hillside and before the usual four team Kinder search plan was activated, the missing party was located by their group supervisors, all safe and well.
