Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was engaged on a training exercise at Chee Tor when a call was received relating to a collapsed female on Jacob’s Ladder.  When a team is already engaged it is normal practice to request a neighbouring team to take the call.  However, Edale MRT was also currently engaged so a frantic recovery of equipment and team members from the exercise began.
A paramedic from Edale MRT and an air-ambulance were available and were therefore first on scene.  At the lower end of Jacob’s Ladder, Edale Head, an adult female from Droylsden had suffered a medical collapse following a day exposed to the hot weather.  The first Buxton team members were on scene within 30 minutes to start carrying the casualty on a stretcher to the nearest helicopter landing site.  The group were quickly backed up by other team members to complete the operation.
