Incident report

A Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue snatch squad was called to Hollins Farm, Edale, during the afternoon following reports of an injured walker.

A male from Eastbourne, on holiday in the area with his wife, had slipped on the path on the north side of Hollins Cross, which is part of the Great Ridge. He sustained an injury to his right ankle making him immobile. After being treated on site by rescue team personnel, he was placed on a stretcher and carried for 500 metres into the Edale Valley, where an ambulance was waiting to transfer him to hospital.
