Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called by East Midlands Ambulance Service to attend an elderly male casualty suffering chest pains whilst walking with a rambling group.   The casualty had been located near to the ruins of Errwood Hall by ambulance paramedics and treatment was ongoing as the first team members arrived.   Given the potential seriousness of the call twenty three team members responded providing plenty of hands to carefully carry the rescue stretcher back to the car-park and the waiting ambulance.   The 82 year old gentleman from Chapel en le Frith was responding well to treatment as he was transferred to a Stockport hospital.

Update: It was a great surprise to receive a phone call from this gentleman later today. He offered his sincere thanks for all the effort that went into recovering him from the Goyt Valley. He had been taken to hospital but, “A great result” – not as serious as first thought and he was released later in the day.

All the team members send him their very best wishes and hope he is soon back on the fells.

I wish to express my thanks to you and your team for the assistance which you rendered on Wednesday 21st August when I experiences some difficulties above Errwood Hall.
I was discharged from hospital late afternoon after a series of tests indicated an infection causing breathing difficulties. A donation to your organisation is forwarded under a separate cover.
