Incident report
Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was still returning from the previous incident in the Hope Valley when another accident was reported to East Midlands Ambulance Service which sounded like serious injuries to a walker’s head and neck.
A sixty year old lady from Buxton had been walking two large dogs along the dismantled railway track when she was as possibly pulled over by her dogs. On arrival at scene her physical injuries were discovered not to be as serious as first reported but lady had been out in the poor weather for some time. Consequently the early stages of hypothermia were apparent.
Team members were able to drive along the disused railway to the scene and, following assessment of the casualty, were able to use a team 4 x 4 ambulance to carry the lady back to the road. She was then conveyed to a Macclesfield hospital by East Midlands Ambulance for further assessment. Fortunately the two dogs, despite being large, were well behaved and team members were able to return them to their home address.
