Incident report
Buxton Mountain Rescue Team assembled to search the edge path of Kinder for a party of walkers, lost at height in darkness and heavy rain. It was the teams fourth call out of the day. A dog unit from Edale also attended, having been involved in and still present from the previous call-out.
The benighted group, from Oxfordshire, consisted of 3 adults and a 12 year old. The rescue team was able to use an approximate grid reference to commence their search, worked out by converting lat/longitude data from a mobile phone belonging to the lost group. The group was located and although very wet, they were otherwise un-injured, excepting the youngest person, who was experiencing hypothermia. He was given high energy food, and assessed by the team doctor.
The group was escorted safely off the hill back to Edale where they were camping.
