Incident report
A joint Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Team snatch squad wascalled to Barber Booth, Edale on Tuesday afternoon.
A 15 year old girl from Chesterfield was taking part in an outdoor activity day in the Crowden Tower area on the southern edge of Kinder Scout. She slipped on the wet ground and jarred her back, aggravating a previous injury which immobilised her.
Team members climbed the steep hillside to Crowden Tower carrying all the heavy equipment required for a stretcher evacuation.
Meanwhile, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance attended, landing on the moor some distance away and well below the casualty site. The casualty was treated by team members and air ambulance paramedics, placed on a mountain rescue stretcher and carried to the waiting aircraft.
The helicopter flew her to the rescue control at Tipps car park, where she was transferred to a land ambulance and taken to the Chesterfield Royal Hospital for further treatment.
