Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called by East Midlands Ambulance Service following a report of an injured walkerChrome Hill Feb 2016 2 on the ridge of Chrome Hill, near Longnor.

A 57 year old lady had been walking with friends, all part of a Bristol based sub-aqua group, when a strong gust of wind blew her off her feet.  The incident resulted in a suspected fracture of both the fibula and tibia of her right leg.

The Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air-ambulance was circling the incident site as team members were assembling at Dowle Hall Farm.  A doctor from the aircraft treated the casualty whilst the team assembled the rescue stretcher ready for the evacuation down to the waiting helicopter.  Following transfer the lady was flown to a Derby hospital for treatment.

We would just like to say a huge thanks to all the team for their superb work in rescuing our club colleague. Your patience, good humour, the care and attention you all gave freely all done in your own time is fantastic. It was brilliant to see such great teamwork in action in very difficult conditions. Thank you.
