Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called to rendezvous at Pym’s Chair at the head of the Goyt Valley following a report of a paragliding accident.

Despite Bank Holiday traffic, the team soon had twenty members on their way up to Cat’s Tor Ridge on the Cheshire / Derbyshire border where a 58 year old man from Yorkshire had suffered injury whilst landing the paraglider.   The man was treated by team first aiders and a doctor before arrival of the North West Air-ambulance.   The man, who had suffered a severe lower leg injury and suspected back injuries, was carried by rescue stretcher to the nearest helicopter landing point before being transferred to a Manchester hospital.

Just came across this report when browsing the web. Many many thanks for patching me up and getting me down the hill to the helicopter. 6 weeks on and the leg is mending fine. I would like to make a donation to BMRT. Please advise bank details (acc number and sort code) or your preferred method of contributing.

Thanks again for the sterling job you do :)

    Hi David,

Very pleased to hear from you and that you are slowly on the mend. We hope you are soon back on your feet even if you have to wait awhile to get airborne again.

Your offer of a donation would obviously be welcomed as the team is totally dependent on charitable help. Please see our Home Page and find the Red Donate button. All the details are there for a secure donation.

    Thanks again,
    Roger, Team Chairman
