Incident report
Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called to the grounds of Capesthorne Hall, Siddington, near Macclesfield following the report of a lady having suffered a leg injury. The 55 year old lady was taking part in The East Cheshire Hospice “Star Light Walk” raising money for the local charity. The walk passes through the Capesthorne Estate which is hardly mountainous but it’s a dark an lonely place on a wet night. Ground conditions were very wet following recent rain and a simple slip resulted in a suspected fractured of the lower leg.
North West Ambulance Service were first to respond but had difficulty accessing the patient. An ambulance Hazardous Access Response Team was called as was an ambulance “Polaris” all terrain vehicle from Liverpool. Buxton MRT was then requested and provided fifteen members to assist with casualty loading and stretcher handling.
The lady was treated by N.W.A.S paramedics and placed in a basket stretcher for evacuation in the Polaris 4 x 4 to the ambulance waiting near Capesthorn Hall.

Hope all her sponsors pay up even though she did not finish the walk :) Hope she is now recovering.
Thanks for all your help on Friday night, both with the patient and getting the vehicles out afterwards! Much appreciated.
