Incident report

A joint Buxton and Edale Teams’ Snatch Squad call to a gentleman with a suspected fracture of the ankle in Bretton Clough.   Mobile-phone communication was difficult in this remote area and it took a short time to pinpoint the exact location of the casualty site.  A couple from Marple, Stockport, had been walking in the clough when the 71 year old man stumbled resulting in a painful ankle injury.

The man was treated by rescue paramedics before the evacuation commenced.  It was a hot sunny afternoon and the carryout was made difficult by the narrow path, overgrown brambles and several stiles.  At the roadhead the casualty was transferred to an East Midlands Ambulance for transport to a Stockport hospital.

It was later revealed that the ankle was fortunately not fractured and the gentleman was sent home to the care of his wife.
