Incident report
Buxton Mountain Rescue Team and Kinder Mountain Rescue Team called at 07.00 to search Alderley Edge Country Park near Macclesfield, following a request from Cheshire Police relating to the sighting by the publican of the Wizard Hotel of a possible vulnerable male behaving strangely the previous night. The publican and the police made a superficial search during the night but Police and Search Controllers decided to wait for daylight before calling out team members. Thirty one members of the two rescue teams together with four search dogs combed the area for five hours but nothing was found. The park is a popular wooded area famous for its old copper mines and caves.

This is an area that we are not generally asked to operate in. Myself and Mark, the other Deputy Leader, ran the incident from the Ranger Station and together with Cheshire Police Polsar officers effectively carved the area on the map into manageable search areas using walls etc. as boundaries.
After the area was thoroughly searched and given the information that we had to go on we were as confident as we could be that there was no casualty to be found. Cheshire Police were extremely grateful for our help.
