Roaches

A fallen climber crag fast on a ledge on the “Right Route” on the upper tier of the Roaches. The lady had taken a leader fall on the second pitch and landed on the ledge injuring both her ankles and her wrist. A BMRT Paramedic climbed down to the ledge and gave first aid. The team set up our standard horizontal stretcher lower system and lowered the stretcher down the second pitch to the ledge. Matlock Bath

The Team was called to assist Derby MRT with a incident in Matlock Bath at 1851hrs. A 75 Year old lady had slipped and fallen down a steep slope at the Heights of Abraham cliff. A difficult extraction ensued. The Fire Service, Ambulance service, NHS HART Team also attended. The casualty was treated on site by MR and HART team medics for two suspected broken ankles. She was then hauled up the cliff to a small edge path below the main cliff. A winching attempt in to the S92 Helicopter was abandoned due to the difficulties of the site. The …

Blackshaw Moor

Whilst the team was involved in Saturday’s multi-team and multi-agency exercise they were approached by a group of bikers who had transported one of their colleagues after an accident. The team along with colleagues from Derby Mountain Rescue Team and Cheshire Search and Rescue assessed the casualty, concluding that his collarbone had a suspected fracture. After pain relief, the casualty was made comfortable and transferred to hospital.

Cowdale

Buxton Team were called along with Edale MRT to rescue a fallen climber in Cowdale Quarry, near Buxton. The Team were also dealing with an incident at the Roaches so two Buxton members went to the incident and Edale provided some extra hands on this our second incident.

As luck would have it Helimed 53 was able to land near to the patient and deal with them with the assistance of the East Midlands ambulance service responder already on scene.

Roaches

The team was called to the Roaches after reports of a fallen climber taking a big fall. The climber was located near to the Don Whillans Hut on the lower Tier. He was treated by Paramedics from WMAS and placed on a Mountain Rescue stretcher carried by team members to the waiting WMAS Ambulance for the onward journey to Hospital.
