Grindsbrook, Kinder Scout

The Team was called along with Edale Mountain Rescue Team to assist a lady who had slipped crossing the stream whilst walking down Grindsbrook clough. She thought she might have broken her ankle and was unable to continue as she could not weight bear on her leg.

Her partner rightly  called for Mountain Rescue and both Buxton Mountain Rescue Team and Edale Mountain Rescue Team responded.

Longshaw Estate

Buxton Team Search Dog Griff and handler were called to assist colleagues in Edale Mountain Rescue Team and Derby Mountain Rescue Team with an on-going search for a missing person in the Froggatt area. Buxton Team Search Dog Griff and handler searched the identified area for four hours before the team, who had been placed on standby, were eventually stood down.

The missing person was found safe and well outside the search area.

Well done Griff, who clearly likes being in the spotlight.

Southern Edges, Kinder Scout

The second call out of the day  for the Rescue Team was to assist in the search for two walkers who had been benighted after a walk from Edale to Kinder Downfall. The walkers raised the alarm after the walk had taken a little longer than planned, and realising they had left their head torches in the car after repacking their rucksacks earlier in the day.

One of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation controllers was able to talk with the walkers and it was thought they were on the southern edges of Kinder Scout, somewhere between the top of Crowden …

Walker Barn / Buxton Old Road, Macclesfield

The team received an early morning call at 2.53 from North West Ambulance Service requesting assistance with transporting a casualty from a remote property above Macclesfield. At the time, the temperature was -7 °C, which made the access difficult to the property due to the snow and icy conditions.

Ambulance Paramedics were already at the property treating a poorly casualty at their farm. Due to the remoteness and the snow and icy conditions, the team was requested to attend to help evacuate the casualty.
