Wildboarclough, off the A54 Congleton to Buxton Road

The first of two call outs for  Buxton Mountain Rescue Team volunteers started with the first call out just before  13.00hrs. on Saturday 6th April.

The team was requested by the North West Ambulance Service to assist them with the evacuation of a mountain biker who had fallen off his bike. As a result of the fall and the mountain bikers condition, a quick evacuation by air was deemed necessary. Mam Tor, Castleton

Just after 2pm on Monday 25th March, Edale Mountain Rescue Team and Buxton Mountain Rescue Teams were called out to a report of an incident on Mam Tor.

The incident involved an injured paraglider pilot. The Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance

also attended the incident and was able to quickly transfer the casualty to Sheffield Northern General Hospital for further assessment and treatment.

This rescue is another good example of how the voluntary mountain rescue teams work closely together with other emergency services to effect quick treatment and evacuation of the casualty to hospital.

Grindslow Knoll, Edale

Just before 3pm on the 23rd March , Edale Mountain Rescue Team and Buxton Mountain Rescue Team were called out to a report of an incident on Grindslow Knoll. Members from both mountain rescue teams, and response vehicles, made their way to RV at the Edale railway station.

Team members then set off up Grindslow Knoll, loaded with equipment, to locate the casualty. On locating the casualty, team members were told that the casualty had been walking on Kinder Scout and slipped, injuring their ankle. Goyt Valley

The team was contacted about a dog walker who had become unsure of their location as daylight turned into darkness.

The walker was located using their mobile phone signal and was quickly found and brought back to a safe location.

Even at this time of year, it can get dark quickly in the evenings.
