Kinder Scout

There was a call late Saturday evening for the mountain rescue teams to search for a missing walker on Kinder Scout. The “Kinder Plan” was initiated in an effort to get as many mountain rescue volunteers from various teams onto Kinder Scout as quickly as possible, due to the inclement weather conditions on the plateau.

Grindsbrook Clough, Edale

Team members were diverted from the previous call out to assist Edale MRT with a call out to assist an injured person in Grindsbrook Clough.

A small section of three was initially dispatched from Edale village and made their way to the casualty, who was situated at halfway rocks. A walker had taken a fall and had injured their right ankle. The first Casualty Carer on scene assessed the ankle and administered strong pain relief. Crowden Clough, Edale

A call was received with the request to assist Kinder Mountain Rescue Team with an incident above Crowden Clough. As team members arrived at the rendezvous point in Tipps Car Park, Edale, an additional call was received for a second call out with Edale Mountain Rescue Team in Grindsbrook Clough.

Harpur Hill Quarry

A group of climbers was making the most of the fine weather by enjoying some routes in the quarry, when one fell a short distance making an awkward landing onto rocks and sustaining a lower leg injury.

Another member of the party made a 999 call to East Midlands Ambulance Service who were quickly on scene to provide initial medical treatment. Tittesworth Reservoir.

While out for a walk around Tittesworth Reservoir one member of a party jumped across a small stream, but unfortunately landed in soft mud resulting in a tumble and a lower leg injury.

West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to the scene, and a request made to the Midlands Air Ambulance to evacuate the casualty. Buxton MRT was called to assist, and vehicles were deployed from our bases to the Tittesworth. The casualty was transferred to the helicopter landing site with the help of local outdoor instructors before evacuation to hospital for further treatment. …
