Grindsbrook, Edale

Today’s first callout was to a lady who had slipped on the path next to Heardman’s Plantation Grindsbrook, Edale.

Team members from both Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Teams were called to assist in a joint operation and vehicles were deployed from both bases. The fall had resulted in a lower leg injury and with the casualty in great pain, and unable to walk. A stretcher evacuation back to the valley floor was required before onwards transport to hospital.

Rainow

A group of friends were enjoying a Friday afternoon walk around Rainow, while dodging the showers. Unfortunately, one of them slipped on the rocky, muddy and uneven ground and injured her lower leg. A 999 call was made to our colleagues at North West Ambulance Service who located the casualty and started treatment.

Fernilee, Goyt Valley

The team was called out late afternoon to search for a female walker in her 70s who had become separated from her partner in heavy rain and low cloud whilst on a walk around the Fernilee/Windgather area.

On arrival at the car and after waiting a while, the partner became concerned and rang the Police.

Team members had responded to the call out and were travelling to the Goyt valley when we learnt that the missing lady was able to get a message to her partner saying she was safe …

Macclesfield Canal, Bosley

As a mountain rescue team, we are more used to working in the hills and moorlands of the Peak District, so today’s callout to the Macclesfield Canal was an opportunity to do something slightly different.

Whilst out enjoying a walk along the towpath the casualty had placed a foot awkwardly on uneven ground resulting in a very painful lower leg injury.
