Teggs Nose, Macclesfield

While out walking with a friend a local slipped and fell awkwardly sustaining an injury to the upper leg. The call for assistance from Buxton Mountain Rescue Team came via our colleagues at North West Ambulance Service and Cheshire Search and Rescue and team members and vehicles soon began to arrive at Tegg’s Nose Country Park.

Grin Low, Buxton

After weeks of freezing temperatures and biting easterly winds, milder weather returned to Buxton and stripped the slopes of snow and ice. While out enjoying these warmer conditions, a local resident slipped on a steep patch of mud at the top of Grin Low sustaining a very painful lower leg injury.

Bakewell Flood Standby, Bakewell.

As part of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation – PDMRO water response, Buxton MRT’s Swift Water Rescue section (SRT) members together with SRTs from Kinder Mountain Rescue Team and Derby Mountain Rescue Team are back home after an all-night deployment to Bakewell fire station on standby for flood rescue.

Fortunately, no evacuation of homes was necessary. The only incident was a car stuck in flood water with the driver sitting on the roof.

Pooles Cavern, Buxton

A Saturday “tea time” callout came in for assistance with an incident in Buxton.

The commanding view from Solomon’s Temple attracts many local residents, but several days of freeze-thaw and the trampling of many hundreds of walkers had made the paths very icy in parts.

Our colleagues from East Midlands Ambulance Service were treating the casualty, who had slipped walking down to the car park sustaining a painful shoulder injury, but due to the location of the fall our assistance was required to organise the evacuation. …
