Fernilee Reservoir, Goyt Valley

The Rescue Team were called out again to the Goyt valley to help a local dog walker who had tripped sustaining a bang on the head and an upper arm injury. Thankfully one of the walkers was a nurse and was able to assess the situation and identify the need for help from the emergency services and made a 999 call.

Goyt Valley, west of Buxton

A mountain biker on a downhill section of a track in the Goyt Valley caught a pedal on the ground and was flipped off his bike, sustaining a very painful lower leg injury. Fortunately, some nearby walkers witnessed the incident and were able to make a 999 call to ask for assistance from the emergency services. A helicopter from Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance was soon on scene, and the aircrew began the initial medical treatment.

Crowden Clough, Kinder Scout, Edale

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called out by Derbyshire Constabulary after a 999 call was received from two walkers lost on Kinder, who were unable to find their way off the plateau.

Their location was identified using phone technology which ‘pings’ their phone and collects the grid reference of their position allowing team members to search a smaller area. Team members formed two sections which were dispatched from Upper Booth to make their way up Crowden Clough searching for the two walkers. Grin Low Woods, south west of Buxton

Two local walkers out enjoying their daily exercise in the sunshine ended up requiring the services of East Midlands Ambulance Service and Buxton Mountain Rescue Team after a little mishap.

After weeks of snow and rain, the area leading up to and around Solomon’s Temple were wet and slippery. One of the walkers took a tumble on a path leading out of the woods. Just as team members were thinking about the evening meals and activities, we received a call from Derbyshire Constabulary to assist them with an incident on the southern edges of Kinder Scout. The exact location of the incident was not precisely known, and to get as much resource to the location as quickly as possible, our colleagues in Kinder Mountain Rescue Team was also called to assist in the search.
