Kinder Scout plateau

The Kinder Search Plan was initiated for a mountain biker who was unsure of their location and benighted somewhere on the Kinder Scout plateau. Glossop, Edale, Buxton and Kinder mountain rescue teams were teams tasked to search their allocated areas of the plateau.

Subsequent information via Sarloc confirmed that the missing person was north of Sandyhays and was moving in a northerly direction.

Members of Glossop Mountain Rescue Team were able to locate the mountain biker and take care of the biker.

Cressbrook Dale, Wardlow Mires

While descending a track into Cressbrook Dale, a fell runner took a tumble resulting in a painful lower leg injury. It became quite apparent that self-evacuation was not a sensible option. The runner dialled 999 and asked for Police and Mountain Rescue. Phone find technology was used to establish the location of the casualty and as is usual for a mid-week incident both Edale Mountain Rescue Team and Buxton MRT were called out to attend.

Haddon Grove, Lathkill Dale, south west of Bakewell.

A party of young people were walking through the Lathkill Nature Reserve when one of the group tripped and exacerbated a previous hip injury. With the casualty in great pain and unable to walk any further, the other members of the party made some quick decisions and put their outdoor training into practice. While some established their location with an OS grid reference and dialled 999 to ask for Police and Mountain Rescue, others made sure the casualty was both warm and comfortable.

Woolpacks, Kinder Scout

As the dry weather continued, the team received a request from Derbyshire Constabulary for our drone team to assist Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service who had been made aware of a fire ‘somewhere’ on Kinder Scout.

As the team arrived at the rendezvous point, we were asked to climb to the plateau and assist the fire crews in identifying the specific area on fire. The team deployed onto the hill and made their way towards the Woolpacks area, where the fire was thought to be.

Three Shires Head

The Team were called out to look for a missing person who was last known to be walking in the area close to Three Shires Head.

With limited information, a quick search of the area and other locations close by resulted in the reported missing person being found safe and well.
